Chehni Kothi

The Chehni Kothi is an impressive tower around 30m in height made of stone and wood. It has been named after the village where it is located the Chehni village. It is situated at Jibhi in the Tirthan valley. There is no road reaching the village and hence one needs to go on foot. It takes about 45 minutes or an hour to reach on foot from the road depending on your stamina. You can start walking either from the Shringa Rishi gate or from the village Bihar. Both starting points are accessible from a link road located between Banjar and Jibhi. In case you stay in the Tirthan valley you will need to move to Banjar first and then continue towards Jibhi and Jalori pass. It is approx a 45 minutes drive from Gushaini. A visit to Chehni Kothi is a perfect one-day activity if you want to blend walking in the mountains with a cultural experience.

Shringa Rishi Temple

The Shringa Rishi Temple is the home of the ruling diety of Banjar. It is situated around 4 km from Jibhi towards Banjar. It bifurcates to an uphill turn towards the Shringa Rishi Bagi temple. There are two routes from here to reach the temple; you can either take the stairs through the forest or a steep narrow dirt road of around two km. It is a lovely walk among the pines along with local devotees carrying flowers to be offered at the Shringa Rishi Temple. The temple is immensely beautiful, surrounded by apple orchards and traditional wooden houses. It is a three storey temple with views of the valley. The insides of the temple are entirely made of wood and the deities are kept on the top floor. Shringa Rishi is the ruling deity of Banjar valley.

Serolsar Lake

Serolsar is at distance of about 5 kilometre from Jalori Pass. Jalori Pass is situated at a height of about 10,140 feet which is around 12 km from Jibhi. From Jalori Pass, one travels through narrow path among the jungles of ‘Kharshoo’ trees for a distance of 5-6 km on foot. It takes around 1.5 hours to traverse the distance from Jalori Pass to Serolsar. The temperature of Serolsar is very cool all around the year. From Jalori pass, one can enjoy an amazing scenic view of the Himalayas. A trail starts from the pass and goes up and down to a small charming mountain lake. It has an amazing atmosphere thus making the trek an enriching experience. The Serolsar Lake is dedicated to Budhi Nagin (बूढी नागिन), the mother of all Nag deities such as Shesh-Nag, Kamru-Nag, Mahu-Nag, Ghunda Nag and other Nag Lords of the state. There is a temple of Budhi Nagin (old snake goddess), a holy spot next to the lake.

Raghupur Fort

Raghupur Fort is a historic place which is believed to be built by Mandi rulers, to protect themselves from the invasion. Today, nothing much is left of it except the outer portion of the walls. However, what makes visiting this fort more fun is the way to reach it. A walk or rather a climb of 3 Kms from Jalori Pass, the path gets steeper during the last kilometre. The way is covered with lush green oaks and rhododendrons with the great Himalayas in the backdrop. A small pond is present within the premises of the fort.

Sojha is 7 km from Jibhi and is a beautiful hamlet located at an elevation of 2600 m. The village is slightly below the main road. Sojha has mesmerising views of the valley. It is located only 5 km before Jalori Pass. Sojha is a timeless village with colourful wooden houses set among apple orchards and an endless view of the valley. As it is close to Jalori Pass, sometimes clouds float happily and fog envelops the entire surroundings making it feel like a fairytale. Nature lovers are bound to have a good time here. There are numerous possibilities for strolling around, hiking in the meadows and heading for treks close to Jalori Pass. The snow clad peaks rise from beyond the tree line and the aroma of nature is a joy to be in. The charm of Shoja is in the panoramic view of the snow covered Himalayan ranges in the distance.
